The Herboretum : a Place to Protect Nature

The Herboretum Association is located in Saint-Ay near Orléans, south of Paris. Its aim is to protect the environment, our natural heritage, and plant biodiversity.

This aim is reflected in the maintenance, development and protection of plant species on the Herboretum Estate, and by increasing public awareness on the protection of our natural heritage and plant biodiversity.

Ambition: to develop ecological conscience.

Methodology: creating public awareness on Nature thanks to a protected environment.

Location: the 9 hectares of the Herboretum Estate.

The Project

The mission is of general interest, is ambitious and necessary, and includes two steps:

Firstly, the association will be a place to come together and share energy. The Herboretum wishes to become the centre of a dynamic spirit where people can meet and share their desire to change things, their viewpoints on how to take action to protect biodiversity.

Secondly, it aims at protecting and exposing collections of gardens: the Gardens of Species (medicinal plants, dyeing plants…), the Old and forgotten vegetables Square, an orchard of old varieties of Apple and Pear trees, a tree garden, natural biotopes (humid meadows, Mauve river banks…) rich in wild species, etc.
