Focus on the Lizard Orchid (Himantoglossum hircinum (L.) Spreng.), a protected species in the Loiret region

It has extraordinary flowers, mainly due to one of its petals, which is slender, very long, coiled up on itself; the flowering stem measures 40 to 80 centimetres.
It grows in the months of June and July, in the clearings of sandy woods, and on rocky slopes.

It is a protected species throughout the Loire region.
